Get your GP to prescribe you omeprazole, only thing that really helped me x

Go and get some Omeprazole from the GP honestly can’t recommend it enough, it’s literally solved it for me 🥳

@Ella i’ve read that after stopping use of omeprazole ur heartburn can get worse tho. so it worries me. i’m gonna ring doctors on monday x

@Becky i was trying to stay away from prescription medication for heartburn as i had it controlled and since 34 weeks its just been mega x

Omeprazole will do the trick ❤️ I started waking up in the night choking on my reflux around 24 weeks and carried Gaviscon around with me but it didn’t touch the sides 😫 now I take 20mg in the morning and then again at night and some days are so good that I forget to take my nightly dose but I’m still fine 😅

@Jessie see i’ve had it the whole journey and found rennies to be the only thing that worked. now i must of become immune to them because it wakes me up and ill take a rennie it’ll stop for 2 mins and then soon as i lay down its back again xx

I spoke to my GP and they gave me Peptac. I found that it works much more effectively than gaviscon. Also, I drink milk too which gives me slight relief. Hope you’re feeling better soon, it’s really awful!

@Kayleigh i tried gaviscon version of rennies but the smell of gaviscon in general makes me sick. i’m gonna speak to doctors monday see if they can give me something. xx

Love heart sweets work for me I have a packet everywhere

@Elle I’ve forgotten to take mine for a couple of days and can honestly say it hasn’t been any worse. Your heartburn should recover straight after birth so as long as you take it up to then I wouldn’t worry about that. Entirely up to you. I put up with it with my daughter and this time couldn’t cope with it, if I was to do it again I would go straight on to Omeprazole the second I had any sign of heartburn or acid reflux x

I'm the same as you it wakes me up every night, I have peptac liquid which I take a couple spoonfuls every night before bed, it does seem to help. I also find a big glass of milk or a yogurt before bed sometimes helps keep it at bay. It's a horrible feeling, this stage is tough x

I had heartburn for all 3 of my pregnancies , with my previous two it went away as soon as I gave birth. I’m currently on omeprazole which has been a lifesaver. If you want to try more natural remedies (I did t w t to take more medications with my first so understand) you can try loveheart sweets or 1/2tsp of bicrb in 1/2 cup of water We have fruit tingles here and they’ve helped massively but I do believe that I’ve heard the same for the love heart sweets which I know are more readily available there. I hope this helps x

Also old wives tales say that severe heartburn means your baby will have lots of hair 🤣 (was true for my first two 😉)

You can get omeprazole over the counter at a pharmacy! It’s been a god send for me x

My GP told me to use liquid gaviscon (apparently its more effective than the tablets) and to use it after each meal and before bed instead of only using it when the heartburn happens. Seems to work really well. They do it in aniseed, peppermint or mixed berry flavour so whichever taste you tolerate best x
