Amazing! Loved my experience last time. They have a world-class rating (magnet recognition) so very high quality facilities and care.

My birth was really quickly only thing was I had a September baby so I had to share a room otherwise the staff were lovely and very helping just very chaotic in there as it's the Gold Coast 😂 but there were also 22 births the night I gave birth so 😂

I had my baby in August and my only issue was that, staying over night, the night midwife that checked on us wasn't very helpful, she told me my shakes and everything were normal (id not eaten anything solid for two days mind you from the shaking) the next day dr came to check and was mad the midwife brushed me off 😭😭

We had a mixed experience with our twins. I was fortunate enough to be supported by the Waijungbah Jarjums unit and without our Midwife I don’t know what I would have done! Had a C Section and the whole experience and birth and recovery was fantastic as far as surgeries go. The only sour was one midwife that we had on night one and two - she was really judgemental and unkind. Others were great. Its like anything really, it really depends on the people who are on and around you who make the experience or break it.

@Lara Same! The Waijungbah Jarjums are so good! They're so supportive!

I had my boy in October 2021 and they were awesome. The first midwife I had once I was transferred to the ward at 10pm wasn't too great but I couldn't fault the rest. I had a 4 day stay after birth and everything went amazingly well!

I had my girl at GCUH in 2023. Honestly didn’t have the best experience. The hospital is pretty notorious for pushing intervention because it’s a teaching hospital - I had some pretty pushy midwives and I was very coerced by the head OB to get an induction when there was no medical reason for me to have one. Had a very traumatic birth but the midwives who visited me after were so lovely. Pretty mixed for me. The midwives are generally really great but there’s a few doctors that only really see you as a number rather than an actual human. I hope you have a great experience! All I can recommend is to advocate for yourself and for what you want - I wish I did that more.
