Me too everytime there’s always a van or people using them with no children really annoys me wish they put the baby spaces further away would stop them.
This is my new pet peeve! The number of times I've seen normal spaces for people to park in, but they'd rather take the child one! And 9 out of 10 times, those other spaces aren't even that far from the store entrance 😐
Vans and boomers
Tbf tho my partner had a van and we used to take our babies in the van and use the spaces lol used to get loads of funny looks till we opened the van and unloaded the pram and babies 😂
I followed a woman into hobbycraft the other day to have a slightly irate word with her, as she pulled into the last child space as I was waiting my turn and indicating to go into it... then she got out with no child, just wanted to be right by the entrance, so entitled. I'm all for asking people where their child is if I see someone next to me getting in and out of car without a child but maybe I'm being petty. Just really angers me!
@Louise 99% of the time that won’t be the case though. I walk past the vans and don’t see any car seats In there 😒
@Maddy I do that too! What did the woman say?
Today I was circling the parent and child parking area in a Sainsbury’s for ages, and then I noticed a van in one of them and there was a guy just chilling in the passengers seat. I was fuming… I indicated with hand gestures that I wanted to park there, and he was like “no I ain’t leaving yet”, so I rolled down my window and told him he’s parked at a parent and child space. Thankfully he said it’s his co worker that parked there but will move the van for me. I get their vans are too large but if you go toward the back of the store there’s usually 2-3 spaces free next to each other so a bit more spacious. I don’t understand why they can’t park there, when there’s literally a specific area for parents. I go and do that sometimes but it’s been a couple of times I’ve returned to find someone parked next to me and can’t get my bloody child in the car. Once I literally had to reverse out of the space to get my baby in, thankfully I wasn’t alone so someone could watch her!
Understandable! But our van didn’t have windows where the three seats behind were so all people could see is me and my partner and would automatically give evils 🙄😭 but isn’t the space for parent and child up to 12? or does it have to be babies? My sons 10 and asthmatic he’s not required to use a car seat or booster as he’s of the required height so that may be why you don’t see the seats? We still use the spaces when it’s just him in the truck as he struggles to walk to far. Absolutely though 100% the lazy people who use spaces not meant for them is so annoying and just plain rude.
@Louise happy that you and your husband used them whilst having children. I’m not sure what the policy is in regards to the age limit though I struggle to see why a 12 year old would need the extra space on the sides to get out of the car or need to be close to the entrance unless health issues like yours, obviously some issues aren’t visible, but trust me the reason why I don’t see the car seats is because 99% of the time is just van men and they don’t have children not even older ones. A lot of the time I see them park and come out the car completely alone and no children in car either. Sorry you and your husband got evils, the other 99% of van drivers ruined it 😂
No I get it! But I imagine there’s a lot of reasonings, autism and lots of other disabilities that you can’t tell by looking at. The policy is 12 or 135cm whichever comes first. But assumptions gets people nowhere so i just try to see the better in people 😩🙄 I always like to think there’s a reason that’s unbeknownst to me. Probably cause of those nosey busy bodies that I try not to judge where possible but you absolutely do have a lot of bellends driving about! And being fair I weren’t too fussed at these women cause I gladly let them know about their nosey selves! I am not the one! 😂😂 it’s funny cause they used to be almost foaming at the mouth to tell you off and then all embarrassed when you slide the van open and there’s 2 babies and a child they didn’t know what to do with themselves, they couldn’t apologise! 🙄😂
@Louise and that’s the reason I wouldn’t say anything unless I can confirm the person hasn’t actually got a child. Yeah I agree, I said the same thing. Not all disabilities are visible. And yes there is always a reason, it’s just not usually a good one. Like I said 99% of the time it’s a selfish reason, van being too big and not wanting to squeeze it into a smaller space, it’s just a fact. there’s obviously some exceptions like you and your husband.
Yea those people are just entitled and think they’re above others but yea I suppose I just miss me van even with all the funny looks in tescos carpark😂😂😂😂
OMG this! And 60 year old blokes waiting in the car for their wives to finish the shopping. I’ve had to stop going to our local Tesco as I can never get a space
