Will sex trigger labor?

I haven’t had sex with my partner since I got pregnant, because we were too busy raising our firstborn (was 5 months old when I conceived) and there was a risk of pre-term labor, so we were extra careful. Now I’m 37+2, the baby’s weight is good. We were just considering to have sex to accelerate labor. Is this a myth? Does it actually happen? If yes, then how quickly? Too scared to be doing it honestly, what if it hurts her head. Omg! 🙈🙈🙈🙈

My midwife told me with both pregnancies that it’s good for softening the cervix which helps progress labour. Might not start it, but helps moves things along faster when labour does start. Definitely won’t hurt her head!😄

My husband and I had sex now and than when I was pregnant and my son ended up being born on his due date

I didn’t have sex with my partner after about 10 weeks of being pregnant, as we were raising our almost 2 year old. So at least I’m not the only one who stopped haha. I’ve heard that it can entice labour. But with me it didn’t help. So I got induced with my youngest and oldest.

First you won't hurt their head. And it might help or it might not It's something to do what's in the semen that helps soften cervix. If your body isn't quite ready for labour it still could be days or weeks away

The baby is that far up there it’s impossible for them to get hurt when having sex. I tried it a few times but it didn’t really make much difference, it’s like everything that they say can help bring labour on.. baby will come when ready 🤷‍♀️ It can be a nice thing to do with your partner though before you have another baby and go through the pp phase again x

To be honest in our case with my first it did seem to induce labour. I had cramps start not long after and after a few hours had my bloody show and contractions started. But also my body may have just been ready as I was 39+6.

We had sex 3-4 times a week throughout my whole pregnancy right until the end, i delivered at 40+2

I’ve been having sex since I got pregnant, and now I’m at 40 weeks and 1 day. I’ve heard that it doesn't really kickstart labor, but it can help soften the cervix.
