@s a r a 🥀 and that’s the copper iud?
I had a friend who got the copper and her periods got heavier - I don’t know if that’s common or not. I had mirena twice and I loved it - didn’t have a period at all it was awesome
With the Mirena did y’all have issues with hormones or depression anything like that?
Funny you post this because I've been debating the exact same issue!! Between my first and my second I tracked my ovulation manually so I didn't have hormonal birth control and I'm really curious about what I'd actually feel like without unnatural hormones pumping through me. I had been on birth control for the 13 years prior to getting pregnant with my first. After my first I got pregnant 6 months later. We are probably done having kids so we don't want to risk anything. I had my 6 week check on Monday and talked to my OB about the copper IUD as I was pretty set on getting it. It's long lasting and no synthetic hormones. She actually recommended I do not get it. She said she had a really hard time putting something in my body that would make my periods heavier and give me more painful cramping. So here I am several days after my appointment, still no birth control and not sure what to do.
@SarahGrace No, it’s the Mirena IUD. I’ve had it for years (since teenager and possibly used to it) so I don’t remember about the hormones but with depression, I had it really bad with my first pregnancy (about 5 years ago). Other than that, not that I know of.. 🤔
I had an IUD in before I had my daughter and placement was a little sore like a day afterwards but I remember the doctor telling me that after kids it doesn’t hurt as much because of your uterus already have been expanded. I will say though…be careful in future appointments. I had mine in for I think 2 years at the time and when I was in for a yearly exam the doctor accidentally pulled it out. Not fun. Needless to say I never went back to that doctor again. 🤣
My best friend growing up got pregnant while the copper iud was inserted, she doesn’t recommend it 🙃
@SarahGrace no I never had any issues with that
I’m getting back on the Mirena IUD, I never used any other birth control honestly. My birthday is also that weekend and my 6 weeks appointment is after my birthday 😭 I, personally love the Mirena IUD. No periods, no cramping and be intimate with no issues. Getting it inserted/removed is just a little pinch and couple days of spotting.
