šŸ‘€šŸ˜¬ā€¦ I don’t feel ā€œmom guiltā€ā€¦ I feel like I don’t tend to my own needs and desires enough

Tbh I honestly feel like I rock parenting… my kids tell me I’m great… family and friends tell me I’m great… and some of the parents at school just are amazed of me so it just feels like affirmation of my own thoughts But like SELF?! My feet look crazy, I don’t exercise as much as I’d like, I hate my diet because i try to make things that I like AND the kids will eat, totally over my job, and i have very little time for my 500000 different hobbies and interests I know it’s temporary and it’s like a HUGE shift from the baby jail phase of parenthood but just thoughts… I don’t relate to ā€œmom guiltā€ but not tending to my needs enough? I definitely feel that

I don’t think mum guilt is a cert for everyone. If you know you’re smashing it (and sounds like you are) then what’s to feel guilty about! Buuut maybe you’re not feeling mum guilt because you’re not tending to your own needs enough? If you were off getting pedicures, having regular gym sessions, enjoying different hobbies etc. then maybe you would feel it. (Not that you necessarily should!) Maybe that little bit of guilt isn’t necessarily a bad thing if it means we’re tending to our own needs a little and not focusing solely on our children’s?

@Sorrel right and I wouldn’t say I focus solely on them either but I’m a very social person and I have to go OUT OF MY WAYYYYYY to have in person social relationships since the majority of my friends are a 40+ minute drive But I do notice when I go to roller derby frequently and I do climbing groups When I take train adventures with and without the kids and go to festivals/open mics/ etc my cup is full lol when I go places my outfits are appreciated and my vibe is matched oh so full But I haven’t really been able to do as much of this since my last relationship and having kids I dabble so I don’t feel lost but I’d love to do more

@Asha glad you’re finding at least a little bit of time for you šŸ™ŒšŸ½ the stuff you do sounds great but yeah it’d definitely be nicer to do more of it! It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day (especially if friends are further away) and you don’t even realise how much you needed that boost till you get it. I’ve recently started skating with a mum friend I actually met on peanut. Signed up to a class so it’s making me stick to it and go regularly. Have felt really energised from it and enjoying learning a new skill (well trying to lol)

@Sorrel yeah I try lol I’ve always got a lil craft and activity going And I try to slide in stuff I like into stuff I have to do like roller skating to school pickup But i definitely need like a biweekly/monthly girls night crackin for myself Just some group stuff
