Every baby is different. My daughter always needed to sleep with my & my son didn’t really care. I say do what works best for the both of you

Is it possible he has jaundice? Did he get the bilirubin checked? I don’t mean to be nosy but my little one I just had 2 weeks yesterday had it and literally would sleep all day. He was also put into the NICU last week from Tuesday to Saturday because of it. Wishing you best of luck.

The first few days are always the hardest. It really could be a million things. You’re doing good. 🫶🏻 Both of my girls had their days and nights mixed up for the first couple weeks. It is a struggle. Do you swaddle him? If you are maybe it’s the way he’s swaddled. Are you doing a pacifier? Maybe try some white noise or place one of your shirts you’ve worn in his bassinet as the sheet maybe? Babies are obsessed with the smell of their mama.

I placed a warm heating pad on her bassinet while breast/bottle feeding. Once she was asleep I removed the pad and set her down gently. Don’t forget to turn the pad off. If she woke I would offer a pacifier or place the pad back in the bassinet and rock her to sleep.

I would try changing babies diaper before the feed to make sure they’re nice & awake & don’t fall asleep while feeding before they’re actually done bc then they will wake up 5 minutes later & want to feed again (also newborn babies watch to latch on often anyways to help your milk supply fully come in & it will lessen after a few days to a week) after changing swaddle baby & then latch them to feed so when they do fall asleep they don’t wake from being put down bc they are nice & snug🥰

My baby didn’t like sleeping in the bassinet in the early stages/newborn stage. She started to sleep in her bassinet Closer to around 8weeks. I gave up at first but decided to give it a try and she did well. right now she’s 12 weeks and has been sleeping in her bassinet.

This is very normal, he just went from being cuddled in a warm and cozy uterus being rocked to sleep to having to sleep on a flat and hard bassinet. My son was the same and ended up being held a lot. My husband and I took shifts sleeping and tried to get as much sleep during the day as possible so that both of us were rested enough at night in case he wouldn't go down in the bassinet at all. In the beginning he slept in the bassinet for 20-30 minutes at a time. We just kept practicing. But sleeping in shifts is a must in the beginning
