Membrane sweep

How many weeks do you have to be to have a membrane sweep done? I’ll be 37 weeks in 2 days and thought about asking my OB for one. & before yall get on here saying 37 weeks isn’t full term. I’m already 2cm dilated and I been in prodromal labor for DAYS. It does not feel good having these painful contractions with no changes to my cervix. Yesterday was one of the worst and I ended up in L&D for overnight observation.

If you’re already dilated to 2 cm I think you can ask! Also a membrane sweep doesn’t mean you’ll go instantly into labor, so maybe your OB will be willing to do it at 37 weeks

@Sarah yes that’s what I was hoping! Thanks

I had mine done at 38 weeks as I asked for it at a routine appointment, she told me I was 1cm dilated then

I got mines the day before due date 40wks, 2cm dilated at check up & had sweep done, contractions went on for atleast next 24hrs before I went into E.R. & induced labor.

My Ob offers them starting at 37 wks but even if yours doesn’t, it doesn’t hurt to ask

39 usually. They say to try and wait to 40 if it’s first pregnancy too x

@Alex this is my 4th pregnancy 😅 & she doesn’t think ill make it to 39 weeks. If I do I’ll be induced!

If your struggling with pain already, definitely ask x

I got mine at 36 weeks when my doctor asked if I was okay with it, it did not put me into labor. I was induced (doctor’s recommendation) at 38 weeks only 1 cm dilated.
