Breech

Is anyone else still breech or had any experience of ECV I’m currently 36+4 baby has always been breech, booked in for a c section in 3 weeks time and offered an ECV for next week…however not sure I want this they told me to book it and I can decide on the day of. Was dead against it but the consultant was lovely and so wondered if anyone else has any experiences to share?

It all depends on how much you want to avoid a c section my last one was breech bum down and I turned down the ecv because of the risks and opted for c section xx

I’m in the same position as you I’ve got a scan at 37 weeks but midwife suspects breech and I can feel what feels like a head under my ribs. I’ve tried all the exercises on spinning babies. Com and I still feel a head under my ribs. I want you to avoid a c section at all costs so might even ask if I can have a breech vaginal delivery if the Ecv doesn’t work as it’s my 4th child. I’ve never experienced this though the others just got into position. What are the risks for ECV? I still don’t know if I will have one or not.

@Charla ahh yeah I feel like I’ve tried it all…I’m not keen on having a breech vaginal and didn’t recommend it for myself as I had a traumatic delivery last time so I was just hoping things would go smoothly this time. They said there’s risk of baby becoming distressed and needing out immediately so they perform the ecv on labour ward however the consultant said in her experience she has never known it to personally happen x

It’s a 50% chance of it working though isn’t there. I hope it works. Although I’ve read stories of women who elected c section and then found out baby changed to head down on the way to theatre so they can just flip at the very last minute. I’m going to try acupuncture also.

Yeah she said about 50/50….i think I’ll go and see how I feel about it booked for next Monday.. yeah they scan you morning of the section to see if breech and if they’re not you can go home again but also heard of someone doing this and then the baby flipped breech again 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂. I’ve been going to chiropractor and want to try moxibustion but haven’t found anywhere yet 🤔

I had an ECV at 37+1. Baby boys head was perched right on my cervix and head under ribs. I was so apprehensive about having the ECV but it went amazing! I had such good care and consultant. I really didn't want a C section personally but it was one of them, needs must kind of thing. But I'm so glad he managed to get turned and would definitely recommend just on my experience 💙

Thank you Rose. It’s good to hear positive stories of ECV

I had an ECV on Saturday. It was a positive experience but sadly after 3 attempts, baby didn’t spin. On the third attempt (3 different doctors), the last doctor did turn baby but they spun back again. They asked me if I wanted another ECV next week but I declined as baby would have moved if they wanted to. I am now waiting on my planned c-section date. I would recommend it. It’s uncomfortable but not painful and you can ask them to stop at any point.

@Laura nowhere near as bad as I built it up in my head no! The only thing that make go,oh ouch was the muscle relaxing injection as she was popping the liquid in (which they say makes you feel funny but i only got shakey handswhen i out them out infront of me😅). The turning was just pressure, absolutely no pain for me. And the consultant had to turn him quite a way. Good luck! X
