Speech

So my little boy is gunna be 2 at the very beginning if march. How are all your little ones doing with speech / communication? My boy says certain words etc and speaks gibberish and of course i totally understand what he means, but isn't saying much. Bare in mind I'm at home alone with him and my 4m old little girl he doesn't go to nursery or anything yet, he's starting in September. I speak to him and explain and play with him all the time, should I be worried at this stage? Is anyone else in the same boat?

Mine is the same mainly gibberish but definitely starting to say more words and understands us. They pick up the last word better that the other words so try and shorten the sentences for them if that makes sense x

Same here, my littler girl is 2 at the end of March and as a whole she can only say about 4 words, she has previously said words such as ‘outside’ ‘pizza’ and ‘cat’ but has never said them again! She also doesn’t go to nursery, and like you said I also explain things and make some words more obvious when speaking. But I guess all babies are different and I wouldn’t worry too much about it!

My youngest was well over 2 before his speech improved he's 3 in April and still has enunciation problems when his brother was fluent and said everything correctly at his age. So he had 2 speaking influences sometimes it just takes them longer. He was also completely mute at nursery and super talkative at home so nursery doesn't always aid in speech. Just keep talking to him normally, if he says something in his own language always reinforce it with the correct word and he'll get there .

Same, except I don’t understand most of what he says yet.

We are a bilingual household. I speak strictly Russian and my partner speaks English/Russian to our girl. Apart from gibberish and some russian words like “one”, “mama”, “sit” and some animal sounds, she doesn’t say anything🤷🏼‍♀️😅

We are bilingual too. My LO is saying tons of words altogether but she prefers Spanish over English. I speak to her in English she responds in Spanish.. it’s cute and I don’t worry much about it since she’ll learn English no matter what at school.

But we watch Ms Rachel and other speech tv shows about 40 minutes a day so Im thinking that’s where she’s learning most of it from.
