Routine! It’s literally the only thing that keeps my house going. The newborn and 3 year old is so so hard! But keeping your 3 year old on their regular schedule as much as possible is going to be your saving grace. Your newborn should kind of naturally fall into your chosen schedule when they start having longer wake windows. Hang in there! My twins are 6 months and my oldest turned 3 in September. It was a rough adjustment but things have been so much better since my twins got on a more set schedule.
I have an 18 month old and an almost 4 year old. Totally get it. For us it's just felt like there are seasons of chaos and seasons where all of a sudden they are cooperating and playing together and my husband and I just look at each other in amazement. Honestly, we just try to stick to some kind of a routine and have snacks all the time everywhere. We do bath time together and nap time together so everything can sort of flow. Lots of sensory like crash pads, stepping stones, and other physical activities to help my oldest take out his energy. I feel you. Even if it's just for a hot shower make sure you have a some time to yourself to regroup.
Idk how they do it because I can’t even handle one toddler. I miss my newborn. It was so easy and I felt so alive and happy and full of joy. On cloud 9! Toddler stage is for the birds man 😭
I stumbled upon the wrong post 😭 my first two are 4 years apart (on purpose so it would be an easy transition) and it has been beautiful but just found out I’m pregnant with number 3 and second is only 15 months 😭 I’ve always said I don’t know how people have toddlers and newborns and now I have to figure it out
I felt this! Had 6yr, 2.5yr and newborn. The transition from 2 to 3 kids was mega hard!!!! Ok, just my toddler was with testing limits and gaining independence as I was nursing and all with new baby. 7 months and just feeling like I'm getting my head above water again. Still some harder days though. Routines help a ton. I drink protein shakes for breakfast so I know I have at least some calories in me to get through the day and I found one that I feel fills any nutritional gaps I may have.
