Febrile seizure

My son (22 months) had his first febrile seizure yesterday at nursery. The staff were amazing and called an ambulance straight away and thankfully I was only 2 minutes round the corner. I just wondered if anyone else’s little one had experienced one of these before and if you’ve ever had a repeat seizure?

Sorry to hear this - they’re so scary but I’ve been told they’re very common. My little boy had his first last month at 22 months too! I’m so worried about it happening again so following to see the responses too! Hopefully he doesn’t happen again for our little ones 🙏🏼 x

My LO had his first one just before his 1st birthday and then had his second one 2 weeks ago at 22 months, most children who have them usually see a repeat when temperature is high, it should usually stop when they’re about 5 years old and there’s nothing you can do to stop one happening. Usually the child would only ever have one per illness but if it’s more it’s classed as concerning and would need to be checked, because my LO has had 2 he has a 2% of getting epilepsy it’s not that much at all but they’re very worrying. If your child is having one with you put them in recovery position and make sure nothing is around they’re head, DO NOT strip the child wait for the ambulance to arrive and most importantly always call a ambulance xx

My friends little boy had his first one while I was with them, he was about two years old. He had a couple more that week due to his temp. He has had more over the years when he had a high temp. He hasn't had one since he was 4. X

My LO is 22 months old & had his first just last weekend! Xx
