@Jemima That’ll be because they’re pushing for inductions, my friend was due Christmas Day and they tried forcing her into an induction for no reason at all. It’s so sad
I wish I had a natural but that decision was taken from me when my baby pooped. My incision burns daily at 9 months. I'm always uncomfortable throughout the day. Which I may have had if I'd needed an episiotomy. But all clothes irritate my scar. It really depends on how you gave birth. My mum had a 4th degree tear with her first labour but is only now at 63 having issues due to it (which only started after she had to go on medication to prevent her breast cancer coming back, so she may have been alright).
My first child was natural / water birth and he gave me a fourth degree tear, however I’ve never had any problems from that and he’s nearly 9, my 6 year old and 8 month old were both planned c sections and again; I haven’t had any problems d
Agreed. I know there can be complications and some might have a tough recovery, but for myself and literally anyone I know in person who had a c-section we were absolutely fine and recovered quickly. Whereas of all the women I know in person who had vaginal it’s about 50/50. A couple took way longer to recover than I did because of severe tearing
I had my daughter naturally, my first son was an emergency. C-section wasn’t planned. and my other son was a planned elective c section baby
So what are the risks? I had an emergency Csection for my first and had a terrible recovery. This may also be because I was induced and then put it into labor and since they didn’t see any progress I had to be rushed to an emergency Csection. So really want to know what are the challenges your friends have seen in Vaginal? Asking this bcoz Im thinking of Vbac this time. My friends who had vaginal were literally up and running on the second day.
3 different experiences.1st my daughter came spontaneously through vaginally I tore a little and recovery was fine for me literally no complaints AT ALL.my stitch opened up though and when I figured it out they refused to stitch it back because it was already healed so I have a gap now lol.2nd was an induction 2 weeks early due to medical reasons for my son. Once again recovery was awesome tore again a little but they stitched me up fine. Literally was walking around after both vaginal births easily.3rd elective c section and I really absolutely hated it.the recovery and the scar healing and not being able to sleep on my side or walk.I couldn't take steps OVER things on the floor. I couldn't cuddle my other children and barely could with the child who came out.struggled getting my kid to school and getting her ready. I cried over EVERYTHING for no reason which never done when the others came out.I literally am not looking forward to another c section and would prefer vaginal 😅
Just to add onto my comment even 10.5 months later after the c section my scar still hurts randomly and itches... obviously doesn't hurt badly just a random pain here and there. Only problems I really had for recovery with vaginal was the haemorrhoids which due to me being constipated and pushing in both the toilet section and the pushing out baby section lol.
I was induced 2 weeks early due to choleostasis, never got to push, only got to 3 cm after 38 hours, finally begged for a c section because I was fearing for mine and my daughters life and it was HORRIBLE. My epidural had worn off and I felt everything. Had to be put under anesthesia a few minutes in. Lots of trauma from that. All that goes to say, I wish I would have just done an elective c section instead of induction. Recovery wasn’t too bad, I was in pain for a couple weeks but it was manageable with pain meds. I could walk around and move slowly. My scar is tingly and sore from time to time but it’s almost always because something bumps into it. For my next I will be doing a planned c section and have heard nothing but good things about planned c sections.
My consultant told me that where I was elective sections made up for 65% of births so it’s definitely becoming more popular
