triage

i rang up triage today and told them these symptoms im 31+4 im getting brixton hicks but they are taking my breath away with how painful some of them are ., i then woke up in middle of night with a headache that still hasn’t gone . i’m also reallt struggling with pain in my ribs and have a temperature .and told them i had passed out 20 minutes before calling , and the woman on the phone just told me it sounded like a viral illness and nothing to do with pregnancy ?

i’m happy with movements , but they told me i didn’t need to go in

I mean it might well be viral but personally would want someone to see me, with the headache and if the pain in your rib is on your right hand side x

@Herbi yeah the pain is on the right side and it’s been constant for weeks if not months and the woman on the phone said it’s fine and it just sounds viral and it doesn’t sound pregnancy related

The rib pain could totally just be babies position but pain under rib on right side and headache could both mean raised blood pressure/ pre eclampsia type symptoms is all. I just would want to rule it out but that’s me personally, hopefully it is just viral and goes away soon but if you’re gonna be worrying now I’d ask them to see you x

Braxton Hicks aren’t painful so might be something else. Maybe call triage again and mention the temperature as you could have an infection that needs treating?

@Christie i did mention all this and she just basically said it sounds like a viral infection and that irs not pregnancy related , basically just told me im fine .

Maybe phone again in an hour and say you’ve had no movement

1000% advocate for yourself! I too called in and they said about the viral thing🙄 I mentioned reduced fetal movement this morning as I also thought my waters broke a bit, they finally suggested to go in… this was days after my initial call, wish I had just been more adamant and said please can I quickly pop in and be checked xx

I had these exact symptoms, genuinely thought I was having baby and it turned out to be gallstones / gallbladder infection. I was in hospital for 3 nights. Definitely go get yourself checked and make sure they monitor baby!

To be honest my Braxton hicks are quite painful but they go as soon as I rest so thought that was just the norm for me. Given all your other symptoms though, I'd definitely demand getting checked out x

Just ring back and tell them you’re coming to be checked, if baby is all fine then ring GP tomorrow about your symptoms and get seen there too to be safe x
