I started driving week 5. Called my insurance and they said it wasn’t up to them when I started driving again. My 6 week appointment wasn’t until about 7 weeks pp and I didn’t want to wait any longer as it was such an inconvenience and I felt fine.
As long as you can perform an emergency stop then it’s fine… it’s the seat belt too, that it doesn’t affect your wound… no one will tell you it’s ok to drive, just own judgement
You have to be signed off by your doctor or your insurance is invalid x
I think they said this because of the possibility of an accident.
@Beth this isn’t actually true, I was never signed off by a dr either time. When I asked them if I could drive they said ‘if you feel like you can’
@N 💞 some it is! I’d check just to be sure x
I drove after 5 weeks when I felt i was able to safely, and still haven't had my postpartum appointment yet at nearly 8 weeks
I’ve been driving since 3 weeks with both my children. My midwife told me as long as I feel comfortable enough to do an emergency stop it was fine. Insurance company didn’t care. I wasn’t actually told by anyone about the 6 weeks rule this time round.
I've been driving since week 2, I was on no pain meds and felt fine for short trips. You don't need to be signed off by a doctor and unless your insurers could prove any accident was due to your surgery, which would be nearly impossible, it doesn't invalidate you. If you feel safe to do so then go for it x

I rang my doctors and was told I didn’t need to be signed off I started driving after 4 weeks as I felt fit and able too x
As everyone else has said, check your insurance policy. I was driving by 10 days Post c section. My insurance stated aslong as I can do an emergency stop safely and with no pain. I did not need to be signed off nor have to mandatory wait 6 weeks.
I waited 6 weeks even though I probably could have driven soon. I would check with your insurance company though mine said I had to do what the dr said. There’s no officially signing off. If your wanting to drive I would maybe get a Drs appointment and have it documented on your records that the dr said you can drive just in case you need proof
My friend was driving within her first week. She was told it was fine whenever she felt comfortable to.
I think it’s to do with your insurance so I’d check with your provider x
