Crawling
Hey everyone. My baby girl is 7 months and still hasn’t started crawling yet. She does this thing where she sticks her butt in the air but has her face on the floor. I was thinking maybe her arms are not strong enough yet but these past couple of weeks, she’ll push and lift her entire chest off the floor. Especially if she sees one of us in the kitchen making food. This week I’ve noticed she’ll push her self up on all fours but can only hold it about 2-3 seconds. I have some family saying she’s behind and should’ve been crawling, others say she shouldn’t be crawling or even scooting at all right now. So I suppose I’m just looking for advice or suggestions from other moms on what to do, if anything.
Advice on what to do: nothing. My daughter didn't start crawling until 10.5 months. They don't worry about crawling until after 12 months. There is a wide range of "normal" for kids and they all develop at different paces. I stressed, too. I tried putting her up in a crawling position. She hated it. I tried more tummy time, she just pushed herself into a sitting position. I tried toys spread around the room, she just cried for them. Nothing worked. Then around 10 months, she started belly crawling, and 2 weeks later, she was up. Once they get there, if doesn't take long. Be patient, 7 months is still very early. My grandmother kept insisting she should be crawling (then walking, and now the latest thing is talking), but how would she know? When was the last time she had a baby? I don't worry about it anymore. Just let her develop at her own pace. When she's up and walking with all the other toddlers, ask the people who told you she was "behind" if they can tell which ones were crawling at 7 months old. 🤣
