Transitioning from breast milk to whole milk.

FTM I was just wondering when is the best time to transition my baby from breastmilk to whole milk ? I know most say when the pediatric gives you the “Go ahead” (most likely past 12 months) but I’ve seen some start at 11 1/2 months. Just curious, Im a tired breastfeeding momma 😫

I've heard a year. Do you not use formula? I know it's pricey, but it helps with sanity.

@Hayley recently started combining. He doesn’t seem to like formual too well. He just won’t drink if I don’t mix it

Formal switch can be done at 12 months. My pediatrician had us just start giving milk at 12 months for my daughter. Its hard for kiddos younger than a year to digest. I've definitely caught my son drinking from my 2 year old's milk cup though and he's been fine, so in small amounts I'm sure it won't hurt them

Wait until 12 months but also I recommend pumping and bottle feeding if you’re not already so that your little one transitions easier then when it is time u can do half bm half cows milk

I’m still breastfeeding too. I didn’t get this far with my first so I’m getting mixed feelings. Proud but tired and more. But I’ll be waiting till he’s 12 months. Mine is cow milk protein sensitive anyways. so I have to get through the milk ladder first.

I’ve always heard a year, you’re close mama! Can you pump a little bit? It might help the transition too because you’re supposed to taper from breastmilk to regular milk over the course of a week or two.
