I’ve heard from dermatologists that anti dandruff shampoos help with postpartum hair loss !
@Tierra i dont remember this happening with my first but then again i was 20. its so bad, chunks. how long did it last for you?
@Parker 又 hmm interesting. i am looking into non toxic shampoos because i shed like crazy, its horrible.
I’m shedding a lot too. It’s totally normal.
This happened to me with my daughter. I was breastfeeding and stopped taking my prenatal vitamins or any vitamins at all so I lost all my edges.
It’s totally normal and very common. Your hair falls out in cycles - at any given time 90 per cent of your hair is growing and 10 per cent is falling out. When you’re pregnant, that process stops, so your hair often feels thicker than ever. Then, a few months after the baby, all that hair you would normally have shed in the previous nine months falls out. It will eventually stop shedding and new hair will grow in - it’s only temporary.
It IS hormonal and common but we can help treat it from within so we’re not lacking the nutrients and vitamins needed for healthy hair growth. (Even more important for bf mums because baby is using more of our nutrients) So I was taking (finishing off) my prenatals, then switched to normal multis, but I take “skin hair nails” on top, another hair only gummy (biotin) and a collagen powder and mine only lasted 4-6m pp after that it started growing in again…I went to a gfs bday at 4m and stupidly tied my hair up and it was so bad you could fully see my hair loss at the edges…a couple months later I went to a wedding had an up-do and it looked so much better than it did at 4m 😂 the photos from the bday were so embarrassing. But yeah, I treat it from within and make sure I’m not lacking 🙃 because for mums that are lacking, hair loss can continue up to 1yr even 2yrs pp.
I had a lot of hair shedding, I’ve since started to use a rosemary shampoo & conditioner and started taking iron tablets and I’m hardly shedding now x
@Ricqel my edges are bald. should i start taking vitamins again
@Lucy ty good to know
@Kellie super helpful
Happens to everyone, for me it started at 4 months
Are you taking a postnatal vitamin?
Hormonal, and mine started at 4 months. It's annoying because I keep finding my hair in my bra when I try to nurse, on the kid's binkie, in his fingers, on his burp cloths ... everywhere

@Ana Moore no i hardly took them during pregnancy as well
@Rachel same here its driving me crazy. so crazy i want to get a pixie cut
Not only did my hair fall out in clumps postpartum, but I got bald spots on my temples after both pregnancies. Worst of it was from 4-6 months but it grew back!
@Violeta💘 Mine only got better once I started a good postnatal lol its hormonal but supplementing vitamins and minerals helps alot. I had from 4 months to almost 7 months
@Ana Moore im going to start again and need to find a good brand
@Violeta💘 Look up Theralogix Lactation Complete, my endocrinologist suggested that one as the most balanced and reliable in the market. Its sounds pricey but its a 3 month supply and you will not burp fish 😂 Im still using because my hair, nails and skin got fantastic under this supplement!
@Ana Moore tysm!
@Kellie what brand for biotin gummy and what for collagen powder how do you eat it in a smoothie?
@Violeta💘 I just bought whatever’s on sale at the shops brand didn’t really matter as long as I was taking them consistently…as for the powder that just dissolves, I add it to my morning coffee. Just add a scoop or a ts to the smoothie and blend it 🙃
@Violeta💘 Lol I already went and got my short bob to try to mitigate it. It helps a little.
@Kellie ok.
@Rachel nice. im going to see what im going to end up doing.
My pp hair loss was horrible around 5-6 months with my second baby. Nothing I did helped unfortunately. Just had to wait for my hormones to adjust.
