Birth control

Hi everyone, I have my 6 week postpartum appointment next week and I wanted to discuss birth control with my provider. this is my second child and I’ve never been on birth control. I know there plenty of different options but what is everyone’s experiences? Anything to avoid?

If you are breastfeeding your options are limited. You’ll have to get ones with progestin only. I take the mini pill. It made my (.) come back faster to me. But it’s been good. No side effects or weirdness. If you’re not breastfeeding I would recommend you discuss the Nexplanon implant. I had that before getting married and loved it! Short periods and months of none at all! Stays in for 3 years

@Alex I am breastfeeding. That’s good to know that there would be fewer options then

I was on the pill before I got pregnant (Junel 1/20) and never got pregnant on it. It helped my mood swing tremendously and helped with my periods that were super heavy before getting on it. If you are breastfeeding you cant be on it though. I was put on a breastfeeding one when leaving the hospital but breastfeeding didnt work out for me. My doctor ended up switching me back at my 6 week appointment upon my request! Thats the inly birth control ive been on and never had any side effects!

I’m on breastfeeding friendly bc pill Slynd.

I’m also breastfeeding and got a hormonal IUD, also what I used for birth control prior to pregnancy. I personally love that I don’t really get periods with it and that I don’t ever have to think about it or remember a pill (the kind I have is good for 7 years). And the insertion was very minimally painful at the 6 week visit with a pap, so much easier than pre-pregnancy.

I had the paragard for 10 years before getting it removed so we could ttc, and will be getting it again now that we have our baby. It’s not for everyone, but my cycles were regular & without any PMS nor negative side effects. Will be curious how it’ll be after having a baby, but I prefer to be hormone-free, and I like that it’s efficacy is 10+ years.
