Sending letter abroad

Sorry if this is a stupid question, it’s completely unrelated to babies, but I wasn’t raised in the uk and I’m not sure how to send a letter abroad. Do I just stick a stamp and pop it in the mailbox? Or do I need to go inside the post office and pay for a different service? Thanks x

I would go into the post office, that way they will tell you the options. It may be that you want to send it recorded delivery! :)

You need to go to the post office

Thanks ladies x

You can look up the cost to send a normal size letter to another country, then just use 1st and 2nd class stamps to equal or over the required amount. Then just put the country at the bottom of the address and that will work. But if in any doubt on the amount of stamp values needed or the size of your letter/parcel, definitely go into the post office. I send a lot of post to family in different parts of Europe. You can buy stamps at that value over the counter so now I always have a couple of those in. Just ask for X number of stamps for letters to Europe etc.

I always go to the post office, they'll weigh the letter then tell you how much it'll be for 1st or 2nd class, I wouldn't risk putting the wrong postage amount on xxx
