I used to take Pregnacare vitamins, but I noticed that every time I took them, I felt more nauseous and they were difficult to digest, they felt too heavy on my stomach. When I mentioned this to my midwife, she advised me to stop taking them, explaining that for some women, this brand can cause digestive issues or worsen nausea. She recommended sticking with simpler vitamins instead.
@Mariana maybe it’s also the cause of my nausea! I haven’t taken pregnacare for 3 days and I thought I’m finally done with the nausea stage, but I think it’s the medicine. Do you take just a normal generic multivitamins? I have one from boots and it’s in capsule form, I find it easier to digest.
@Beatriz you can just take folic acid and vitamin d. Doesn’t need to be a pregnancy vitamin xx
@Beatriz Yes, as a starter, you can stick to Vitamin C, D, and Folic Acid, this is what my midwife recommended for now. These are easier on the stomach and can help reduce nausea. Also, the Pregnacare tablets are quite large, whereas the ones she prescribed are much smaller and easier to take
@Emma thank you!! Will just do that as I have the boots multivitamins here at home xx
Pregnacare is so expensive. The supermarket brand Pregnancy vitamins are much cheaper and have what you need. I take Asda pregnancy multivitamins, with an omg3 tablet as well, as I'm vegetarian. In my first pregnancy, my midwife told me to please stop spending so much on pregnacare when the cheap ones are all you need.
@Sidonie I bought it the day I found out I’m pregnant and didn’t realise that I can have a generic multivitamins xx
@Beatriz just make sure they have 400mg of folic acid. Some only have 200 but 400 is the recommended dose. 😊
I’ve ended up taking them at night as in the morning they make me feel sick
I am a pharmacist. I am only taking folic acid and vitamin D. It’s not a must to take lots of vitamins. Just make sure your not eating junk and eating good amount of fruit and vegetables. Go easy on the fruit though, lots of sugar.
I took pregnacare in my last pregnancy until I realised that it was the tablets that were making me nauseas and actually sick! They are a lot for your tummy to deal with and just unnecessary. As others said you just need Folic acid and vit c and d. Throw em in the bin 😄
Yes I take these never had a problem. I take the orange label original ones
