Baby Race

Hands up those mums who feel like everything is made into a competition. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I just feel like it's everywhere, in this group as much as out there in public. You get family or friends or even mums in baby groups giving unsolicited advice to get your baby moving or saying "haha she's so cute she just lays there like a little slug" or in this group you get "can your baby do X, mine now does this, when did they do it?" I get it, you're proud of what your baby has achieved and that should be celebrated (which I'm sure happens in your respected family units) 🙄 I just feel like it just raises anxieties when what should be reinforced is every child develops at their own pace. And if you're proud of your baby just say exactly that, "im so proud of my LO they've just done X" why need to compare to see how ahead your baby is. Bottom.line is no mum despite their multiple children is a medical expert to tell you whether your child is ahead or behind. Every child is unique and develops in their own time so let's straighten other mums crowns instead of making it a competition hey. OK, rant over, thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Yup! If I go on TikTok especially I feeel like shit b people just bragging about how many food there 7 months old has tried, thinking they know everything etc pisses me off I always feel like I’m not doing enough

@Lu exactly this, you already question yourself with being a mum and then other mums make you feel shit by making everything a competition. And then social media 😭 need i say more

There’s a brilliant Bluey episode called the Baby Race, which all mums should watch, that basically covers this! As a second time mum, I can see firsthand how my two babies that have been raised exactly the same way are developing differently and on their own timeline. Comparison is the thief of joy!

@Lauren yes, there is! I sobbed in that episode 🤣 when she says "you're doing a good job" i just can't help but well up. Atleast in the episode there's no comments just the usual anxiety a mum feels. But what you see here and in baby groups is "is your child rolling mine is" "is your child singing the abc at 7 months, mine is" 🙄

Me too! 🥺 just ignore them, they all develop at their own pace.
