In Qld with a private midwife costs between $5000-$7,500. For me it was $6000.

Yes - me to - cost approx $6000 anything specifically you wanted to know ? X

@Katie was just interested to know how much it costs. I’d really love to have one but don’t think I’d be able to afford it unfortunately :(

@Katie does Medicare cover some of it?

$6000 was completely all out of pocket for us , is this your first or second birth? I ended up in hospital after and actually had a great experience in the hospital system . Where are you located ? My sister had a home birth and I think hers was about $5000 she got rebates . Happy for you to pm me any questions or just ask here whatever suits you xxxx

@Katie thanks for letting me know! I’m in the Gold Coast. It’s my second baby. My first was pretty traumatic in the hospital and I’m kind of scared to go back and relive it 😬 so figured a home birth might make me feel a bit more comfortable and less stressed x

I’m so sorry to hear that - makes sense you would like to choose something different. I really hope this birth is everything you dream it will be ❤️

@Katie thank you so much ❤️

I free birthed my son a couple of years ago here on the Gold Coast and have my second free birthed planned this coming May. Both with the same incredibly experienced doula that supported both me and my partner. She is very reasonably priced and nothing close to what have a private midwife would cost. Always another option. Happy to share my experience or my doulas contact if you wish :) much love Jade
