SOS regarding becoming a god parent
So I know this is a bit different of a topic but idk anyone here in Texas really and I need some help. I'm from NY and when we moved here (during covid) we were married by a JOP here... with the intent to be married in a church back home in NY when the time was right but with unforeseen circumstances we have yet to be married in a catholic church. FFW ...my sister wishes for me to be god mother to my nephew. I am trying to obtain my sponsor certificate.. I have all my sacraments.. and attended the class... but my marriage is not recognized and now I'm being told I can't receive my certificate (which is a requirement for her church). Anyone know what I can do?

Yes the other god parent is not catholic🫤... I didn't even think of this prior because I am god mother to my niece and having received all my sacraments and wasn't married at the time (this was years ago) I was never asked any of this

Find a different church honestly. If your sister can find a nearby church that may allow it. I thought only one godparent had to be Catholic “in good standing.” Is the other godparent not Catholic? I’m about to go through this with my son.
