D&C query

Hey girls, turning 40 today and sadly found out on Friday I have had a 3rd missed miscarriage in last two years. Last couple ended up in A&E for emergency sweep so this time I’m due to have D&C tomorrow. I’m a little nervous, but also want them to hopefully be able to test. Has anyone had D&C and was it ok? Telling myself it’s still possible to go on and have healthy pregnancy. Any advice or experience that could help would be so appreciated. 😬🙏

I can’t be much help. I’ve just had a missed miscarriage in December but due to issues at the hospital, I am having the surgery today so I can update you later. Sorry you’ve been through this. X

I had a d&c for a missed miscarriage 3 weeks ago. The procedure went smoothly. No pain, not much bleeding. They told me it shouldnt affect my fertility. Good luck and i’m really sorry for your loss. It’s heartbreaking going through this once. I cant imagine how hard it must be for you🤍

Thank you @Laurence. That’s really helpful, and in some way I guess this is the saving grace compared to previous experience. It’s no small feat for any of us to go through this. I’m sorry for your loss too. ❤️

Aw so sorry @Danielle that you’re going through this too. Wishing you a speedy recovery today! Xx

I had a D&C in 2022 and had a relatively smooth pregnancy and healthy baby the following year. I personally found it less emotionally draining than the idea of having the tablets to bring on a miscarriage. Wishing you the best of luck!

I had d&c in July & fell pregnant 2 months later and now I’m 20 weeks. My surgery went well and recovery wasn’t too bad. Just a sad and difficult time. Wishing you well XXX

@Emma did you have a general? How did you find it x

@Danielle yes I had general. I went in & they gave me a tablet 2 hours before I was due my op which opened my cervix, caused some bleeding. I bled for about a week afterwards but wasn’t heavy. Had a couple of days of cramps but it wasn’t too bad. Xxx

@Emma did you feel ok after it? I had the meds too and made me feel awful. So I ended up with this x

I had to have 2 x d&c a year ago for 1 miscarriage due to retained products after MMC where baby stopped growing at 11+4. I lost all hope at the time despite drs saying it shouldn’t affect fertility. Drs were right and I fell pregnant soon after second d&c and I’ve now got a very healthy 7 week old there’s always hope ✨

@Tanya how soon after your last d&c did you get pregnant?

@Laurence I had my last d&c on 3rd Jan 2024 and fell pregnant on my march cycle had positive test on 12th April xx

I had a D&C in May last year for a missed miscarriage at about 10 weeks. The procedure went well and I was back to full strength within a fortnight. I had an infection from the baby and the D&C cleared it immediately so I felt better right away. I got pregnant again 6 weeks later and am now 35 weeks. It was also my third miscarriage in as many years!

@Danielle I did feel okay after, I went home about 1/2 hour after i had the surgery. Once you can go to the toilet & your blood pressure etc is okay they let you go. They do send you home with strong pain killers with to help. I overall felt okay but I found out I had a MmC the day before my surgery so I feel like it happened very fast & I felt very sad after. The cramped were quite bad for about 2 days but the pain killers did help. My period returned after about 4 weeks. Xxxd I did strangely have swelling to my knee & injection about3/4 days later & went back to a&e but it turnt out to be an infection in my bulsar in my knee which is very bazar as I’ve never had a knee injury before but it healed with antibiotics x

@Jessica did you have a period before you got pregnant?
