I would recommend liberal jewish synagogues. My husband was raised orthodox jewish but is now atheist, I am a convert but there are loads of families with 1 jewish partner
Thanks @Sandra . Do you know of any in London? I should have mentioned my family was Reform. My maternal grandma also converted. I'm really keen to take my husband to a seder this year so he can experience it before we introduce our little girl.
@Deborah I go to LJS in St John's Wood. Most synagogues do seder nights that you pay for though it's a little more expensive if you aren't a member. Non jewish people can join as friends in my synagogue too and enjoy almost all same privileges as members.
I went to one in Westminster shul and loved it, it's an independent synagogue and if only I lived nearer to it I'd be a member easy, it's so friendly and welcoming. As it is, I'm 'shopping' for a synagogue in north London
I'm Jewish and my husband isn't but has always been very interested in Jewish culture (he bakes a better babka than me!). Not religious at all and don't intend to join a shul but we are part of a wider Jewish community in our area that has lots of mixed couples and differing connections to Judaism - i.e. some shul goers, others more cultural - that hosts lots of family friendly events and has meant my son is exposed to festivals etc...and has a chance to be amongst kids like him.
Hey. In a similar position with baby no.1 on the way. I don't practice at the moment but keen for my daughter to grow up knowing her cultural heritage. I'm not from a religious family but went to a Jewish primary school. Not sure I'd necessarily send her to one (none in my area anyway) but would love her to know customs and traditions, and have some sort of community. I see you're a psychologist - me too!
