Not diabetic but I do work in pharmaceutical research. Lantus was FDA approved in 2000. The main difference is Lantus is long acting and Humalog is fast acting. Humalog is taken more frequently than Lantus as well. From what I read though they are both safe during pregnancy and it mostly comes down to what you prefer or which type of insulin works better for you.

Oh I know Lantus is fda approved but apparently online and according to my endocrinologist it’s not FDA approved for pregnancy. I have maternal fetal telling me one thing and endo telling me another. I won’t know what to do. My endocrinologist wants me to take humalin for night time & says it’s long acting, rather than taking Lantus and not being sure of the risks. I am on humalog already for short acting, 15 mins before meals. I don’t really like my endocrinologist.. so I’ll probably just listen to MFM

Go with your gut, but if it were me I would probably listen to my MFM when it comes to pregnancy. It’s their entire job to know what’s safe for you and your baby and what’s not

@Amber yep. Ima going to start taking my Lantus like they said. I just got off telehealth with them they reassured me. It does not even cross the placenta. And she said that in regards with pregnancy they specializes with that whereas endocrinologist speacizes everyone with t1 or t2 diabetes
