I got it 12 years ago and when they put it in I had a lot of nerve pain shooting down to my fingers I also was 17 and didn’t have much “meat” to work with or they put it in wrong. Didn’t keep it in for more than a month, getting it out was a sucky process. I didn’t pay attention to the mental/chemical changes was too focused on the nerve pain
I got it a few years ago and it was great! I ended up taking it out like 2 years ago because of how I felt it was affecting me. I have had my daughter since then so I don't have experience having it while breastfeeding but it was really good
I had nexplanon, for the first two years my periods were so intense I couldn’t get up from bed, it was just terrible. Then the last year I stopped getting my period all together. After that I had gotten an IUD and I would NEVER get it again. My man would feel it😅😂, worst cramps of my life, insertion was hell (after) and it’s just an overall pain in the ass. Plus it caused minor infertility issues. But that’s my experience!
@Sophia yeah I was gonna try copper IUD but I had a different IUD before and had issues and was recommended I do think implant because I'd likely have the same issues with the copper. I'm just terrified to get pregnant again but also don't want to have permanent surgery yet.
@Brianne has ur hubby thought about vasectomy ?🙊
It's advised not to take any birth control that has estrogen. Estrogen kills you're breast milk supply. So that is something to consider if you want to breast feed. Condoms are always a good option. If your man says he can't feel anything then he has been watching far too much porn and needs a break from it. He will soon realise that you can indeed feel a lot with one on and may even become much more easily aroused around you then before.
I had the implant (nexplanon) from about 21 until I was 32-33. I had no 'periods' for each implant until around the last 6 months of it's life and then it was very light and would probably last a day or 2. I gained and lost weight depending on my lifestyle at the time so can't contribute anything like that to it at all. Insertion was easy. I had it out at 32-33 because I realised I had been on hormones for most of my adult life so far and wanted a break from them. It also run out during COVID and was in my arm too long and the effects of not having it removed when it should were awful so its a great option but just make sure you don't miss the renewal date for it!
@Bethan pretty much summed up my experience with nexplanon. I would get it again but I’m currently bf, and planning for another baby in like 2 years. Nexplanon was my favorite birth control.
@Sophia we are discussing this. But need a safe option until we fully decide if we are done. We might have one more.
@Alex nexplanon is bf safe. That's why my midwife recommended it.
I’ve breastfed since birth and my baby is now 16 months. I got the implant 4 months after birth and have no problems. It works for me and was recommended as doesn’t have as many hormones as others so won’t affect your milk.
