Congratulations!!🎉🩵 At our 11-week scan, we were told there was a 95% chance we were having a girl, but at our 16-week private scan, we found out we were actually having a boy! I was over the moon because I’d always wanted to be a boy mum. Now we’re expecting another little boy! 🩵🩵

@Nora awww lush i was laughing my head off tbh but we had already bought girl stuff which we've sold now so over the moon again we salvaged a lot from our little boy as he's only 1yesr old and I feel like I'm such a boy mum I love itttt Congrats too hunny xxxxx Boys are the best!!

What is an early gender scan? I thought you could only know the gender by blood test of the NIPT test EARLY in the pregnancy.

@Hancel no they determine gender with an ultrasound scan. I had a private one at 16 weeks which was confirmed in my 20 week nhs scan.

@Hancel we had one too just at an ultrasound clinic in Glasgow that does all private appointments.

i got told she was a girl during our 16 week scan at window to the womb, however they couldn’t confirm the gender during my 20 week so i’m convinced we’re gonna end up having a boy, we’ve bought all pink and ‘little sister’ bits which will be being used regardless😂

This is why I didn’t buy anything both times after my 16 week private scan til confirmed at 20 weeks 🤣 still always nervous they’ve got it wrong 🤣 xx

@Holly yes they do determine it with the NIPT test. I had it done and i was told I was having a boy. An ultrasound can also provide the gender but from my understanding they cannot confirm it through an ultrasound until you’re around 20 weeks pregnant, so an early ultrasound wouldn’t work.

@Hancel apologies. Didn’t word it to mean it to sound like a scan was the only way. Window to the womb offer 99.9% accuracy from 15 weeks…

@Holly ohh okay. I was getting a little confused and wondering if I was having a boy or not haha

@Aimee honestly 🤣🤣🤣 my worse nightmare haahhaah xxx

@Holly yeah ours was 99.9% too gutting xxxx

@Rickayah someone’s got to be the .1% - I can’t imagine! Must’ve been strange getting used to one gender and then that changing.

@Holly omg I know typical it would be me lmao and noo cause we've already got a boy who's 14months so this is our second boy so I'm quite glad tbh xxxx

@Rickayah haha at least you had lots of boy stuff you can reuse 😂 I bet! Two brothers sounds lovely xx

@Holly thank god yeah I kept everything and there not even in them long enough to get them ruined either so Im definitely glad ahahah saved me some money! Xxxx

Nah I wanted til my 20 scan to find out and still then they could mess up - but it's a surprise so will find out at my baby shower/gender reveal - although again not sure if it's even 💯 I have heard meant stories that the sonographer makes mistakes

Don’t even! I did a sneakpeek blood test at 10 weeks that said boy but at my 17 week private and 20 week nhs scans they both said girl! I’m not sure what to think!

@Holly the 99.9% is just a marketing gimmick not a number based in science. It may not be physically possible to say that early.

@Lor sneakpeak is very easy to contaminate with male DNA. If it says it's a girl, there's a good chance it's a girl. If it says it's a boy there's always risk it's a false result. I'd trust the 20 week scan! X

@Paulina yeah I don’t doubt that. But, it is a bold claim to make if they were wildly inaccurate. Babies are unpredictable, I was happy with my experience.
