It’s easier to bite their nails at this age. Also agree with what @Sharon has said, an ambulance for a cut nail seems extreme and they are there for life threatening and serious injuries
Put breastmilk ok it for fast healing! It is better to file nails because there nails is still more attached to the finger than in adults
thanks for the comments. but they haven't been very reassuring to be honest and have made me feel even more guilty/daft.
I’m pretty sure between this mum and her husband if they felt they needed a medical team to come to the house for what ever reason, that will have been the right thing to do. I’m also pretty sure an ambulance team won’t have come out if they felt there was other options and I’m sure 111 or 999 would have mentioned that other option whilst on the phone. So no judgement.
My husband did this when our LO was about 2 months old. He felt awful and soo guilty too. Completely normal emotions!
thankyou @Krissy and @Natasha, appreciate it xx
an electric nail file is the best thing you can get! they’re not too expensive on amazon. it’s horrible to be in that situation, and it’s even worse when you feel like you can’t fix the issue yourself! no judgement on calling an ambulance because in that moment i’m sure most mums would’ve done anything to make their babies better. don’t beat yourself up though! we’re all learning, and you need to give yourself some grace, you are NOT a bad mum! far from it. I hope you guys are feeling a bit better now❤️(Also petroleum jelly will help stop cuts that seem to not stop bleeding!)
@Eloise thankyou, this helped x
My 1st was 3 weeks when I cut her finger with the clippers I was beside myself. I felt awful for weeks until I spoke to my friend with 4 kids and she'd done it to 3 of hers too. I now use a file on my youngest lol.
I did this the very first time I cut his nails. I was so careful, I was sure I had only done the nail, but then he started screaming. I felt terrible. We got a Tommee Tippee electric nail file and it’s absolutely impossible to injure them with that thing, it’s great. Also, it might be worth looking into a baby first aid course because unless your baby is a haemophiliac, a small injury isn’t really a serious emergency. Next time, try 111 or your local chemist or walk-in centre.
