By the way did you have any visa refusal before ?
That toddler life at the same time is making this a bit harder for sure! Yes, one refusal due to VFS (the company that UKVI use) not doing the paperwork correct. My husband was stranded back in Australia for 6 weeks with his visa refused and waiting on another appointment 🤦🏼♀️
We only communicated via email and phone. Never saw them face to face. Would never take a solicitor again. Maybe they were just rubbish. 😂🤷🏼♀️

Depends on the complexity of the application
Met face to face to discuss visa options and process for the first 2 visas. 3rd was via email but same immigration lawyer, so they knew us and our circumstances.
