I heat it up with electric blanket before my baby goes in and she loves it. So the transition from my arms to a warm crib doesn’t feel much of a shock compared to a cold crib xx
I put a hot water bottle in the next to me for a little bit and use a love to dream swaddle. I then wait for her to get drowsy and pop her in and i have to rub her head or pat her belly sometimes it works straight away and other times i do have to take her back out and resettle her a little bit but throughout the night she goes back in with such ease sometimes she doesnt even need me to rub her head or pat her belly x
We have always taken the mattress out of the crib, put it on our bed, baby on to the mattress and then i breastfeed them to sleep laying down. My OH and i then grab a corner of the mattress each and move them back in to the cot. Doesn't work perfectly every time, but usually gets them off for a few hours in the cot!
I think sometimes they like the slightly smaller space but one of the midwives in hospital told me to get them settled and pop them in, then just gently cup and hold their head/hands and feet so they can't stretch out or startle themselves. We've been doing that for about 10/15 seconds each time we pop her in and it's made a difference!
