It’s really informal, she comes to check in with you, have a chit chat about how you’re getting along & checks you’ve been attending all antenatal appointments. We had all the baby essentials (car seat, Moses basket, SnuzPod, bottles, steriliser etc) still boxed up visible, so she could see as she probably would have asked. It’s nothing to worry about 🫶🏻
Perfect thank you guys, it sounds silly but I was panicking that I need to sort through the airing cupboard full of bedding make that tidy etc etc😂 so that’s reassured me x
Ours just stayed in the kitchen and we sat and had a cuppa at the table. It was all really informal, just chatted about pregnancy so far, how I planned on feeding and then asked what the sleep set-up was and talked us through the advice on safe sleeping. Usual mental health and if you feel safe at home questions too. It’s really nothing to worry about and they’re not coming to inspect your house so don’t worry about the airing cupboard 😂 x
We don’t have a home visit?
@Jess amazing thank you xx
@Sarah I’m with Rotherham hospital and I know we’ve had the health visitors visit at 32 weeks and she said not many city/towns offer visits during pregnancy they more opt for phone calls now x
We don’t even get a phone call 🤣
Mine wasn’t bothered about looking upstairs, but I told her we’d just finished nursery and said do you want to look anyway so she did. They were more wondering where baby will be downstairs, and advised I got a Moses basket for downstairs. Where as I had the pram most of times when baby was downstairs with me. I’m Rotherham! 🥰
@Jess perfect thank you, we’ve got a lovely midwife so hopefully itll just be easy going. Aw small world, we are over at wath/west melton x
I had mine at 28 weeks and was someone different - she went through loads of questions, I had to fill out a mental health/anxiety questionnaire, she asked things about feeding, what I have in the home (cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine) and if they're all working, asked to see where baby will sleep, questions about smoking, alcohol, druguse etc. These visits can vary I've heard in what they ask, I was quite confused by the questions x
I’ve not been offered any home visits. I’m with Kingston hospital. Anyone else there get one?
My 36 week app when the midwife came was my birth plan appointment - she didn’t look around at all! Health visitor came the week after and did the talk on safe sleep/mental health/feeding but noones actually looked at where my son is currently sleeping 😂
My midwife pulled up and told me to stop pretending to do cleaning as no one had just given birth does cleaning, so really don't bother. Then the health visitor actually came and I closed all the doors and only tidied the sitting room and mopped the corridor 🤣 no one comes in my house to tell me nothing especially how I raise my child so I was very relaxed, don't stress about it x I mean, the lady ended up telling me to use kitchen vegetable oil to moisturise my baby's body. That's when I knew that visit couldn't possibly be that serious.
Mine chatted for about 40 minutes then asked to see where baby will be sleeping x
