Feeling super anxious that I'm seriously ill

Long story short but when I first had my baby about 8 months ago within the first 8 weeks I had a suspected Transient ischaemic attack (TIA). I had an MRI scan and they ruled it out and diagnosed me with Auras. However the MRI was after 48 hours which I only recently found could make the MRI void as TIA would not show. I got put on medication so the Auras wouldn't happen again for about 6 months. I've been fine. But about 3 weeks ago I was having trouble with my eye sight mainly reading. I struggle to read text on my phone and my eyes felt strained also been having headaches. I've never had issues with my eyes before and don't wear glasses. I decided to go for an eye test. The optician doing the test found my optic nerves are swollen on both eyes and she wanted to drive me to hospital then and there! She said she's only see this once before and it could be pressure on the brain. She rang an ophthalmologist (eye doctor at hospital) to get a second opinion and they said it's urgent but not straight away. So I'm waiting on a appointment letter from the hospital which will come in 1-2 weeks. Its been 5 days now and my mind is racing. I still have headaches and vision problems and keep thinking the worst. I've also been getting chest pains but I had them before and it was nothing. Everytime my head hurts I think this could be it. I know I need to calm down and just wait and see but it's hard in a situation like this.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's so scary having to wait around for appointments when you're uncertain of what's going on with you. It puts our anxieties on a vicious cycle. Sending positive thoughts your way that everything turns out ok. Hopefully you just had a transient inflammatory condition and the appointment will rule anything serious out

My partner had the exact same thing when our daughter was 4 weeks old. He was getting migraines for around 7 months but never had them before then had a stroke after 7 months. He had MRIs during this time and they didn’t pick anything up. Turns out they were all TIAs. He’s 38 and even when he first had the stroke the ambulance didn’t believe he had one and refused to take him to hospital. Only after a day of not being able to see it went back to hospital, slept on the floor of a&e for 18 hours and finally got seen my a consultant and they confirmed he had 2 strokes. He’s not had a single ‘migraine’ since. Please persevere and don’t take no for an answer!!

If you are concerned, forget waiting for the letter, present to the ED. They will run the tests then. I honestly wouldn't wait and would go straight in. Of for nothing else, then it will ease your anxiety about this. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I hope you get answers and feel better soon.
