Feeding

Hi ladies, my little one was born on Saturday and she only weighed 5lbs 3oz. When it comes to feeding, we’ve been told it’s based on her weight so we are currently feeding her 2oz but she still looks for milk and seems hungry after? I’m not sure what to do and has anyone else been through the same?

If she wants more, give her more. It's almost impossible to overfeed a baby. Follow her cues.

When I went to the doctors last week as I think my little one has reflux, they said he should be eating 520 ml a day based on his weight and age. He is actually eating nearly 1000ml there is no way he would be satisfied on 520. Bottle of fed baby can be overfed so just look for the cues and don’t do things like shaking the babies bottle inside their mouth to get them to suck as they have a strong sucking reflex so even though they’re sucking, they might not be hungry x

Are you breast feeding or formula? My little girl was born at 5lb 13oz on the 2nd and has lost 16% body weight, we’ve been told to feed every 2 hours - 20 mins on breast and then 30ml bottle top up of pumped breast milk. We have to continue doing this until she has regained her birth weight ! Xx
