Is this normal?

Mums of 3 year old boys. Does your son throw things around randomly? My LO is so boisterous and often throws himself around like into the sofa. He will also be playing nicely then just randomly start throwing legos across the room. Of course he doesn’t pick them up and ends up in time out. This behaviour is so draining and I’m worried he will grow up to not be respectful and just destructive, does this sound normal? Sometimes I just want to sit nicely and read books, draw and do constructive play but it only lasts 5 mins 😩

Yeah I think at this age it's fairly normal. I don't think he will grow up disrespectful and destructive if you're already showing him consequences for his negative behaviour. Its frustrating but sitting and doing activities comes with age 😊

Yeah I think it’s normal my little boy does it. I try and explain to be gentle and not throw things but I do just think it’s standard for their age.

Yes have the same with LB he’ll be playing nicely then just throw his cars across the room. We get him to pick them up if he continues to throw things then he’s in timeout then picks his items up but if he continues after timeout then the toys get taken away.

@Rose that’s really interesting, thank you. Seems he does all of the behaviours on the list 😁

@Sam that sounds similar to me. I guess they say consistency is key x

A very healthy little boy then! Challenging at times but lots of fun 😁

Mine is the same. Can be lovely and gentle but cannot sit and do a puzzle, prefers to toss the bits to all four corners of the room

Normal, testing boundaries

My daughter is exactly the same! And my son who is 5 is still like this! 🤦🏼‍♀️
