Toddler constipation

Has anyone’s child struggled with constipation. My son started having constipation issues right after he turned 1 and he still struggled with it. He sees a GI specialist now, takes daily laxatives, cut out dairy, etc. just wondering if anyone has gone through this? It feels like our life revolves around it and it’s never going to get better.

Cut the medication. Have you offered papaya? Prune juice or dry prune?

They’re great natural laxatives, peanut butter as well.

A lot of water, and if he likes porridge add some chia to it. These doctors want to prescribe meds for things that could be treated with natural things.

Daily laxatives will damage his GI flora, his microbiota and with that, believe it or not can come to behavioral changes.

Coconut oil as well. When my baby was having issues I gave him coconut oil and it helped him so much. After that I offer this things I mentioned and he poops twice a day. ☺️

Also, pear.

Try tiny sprouts digestion booster! It helped my daughter. It it’s all natural, like magnesium, flax seed etc. she lives the flavor when mixed into yogurt

Try apples are a natural laxative because it has pectin and same goes with pears.

Does he drink enough water too? That can have a pretty big impact on stools

@Sam he does drink water and has access to his water bottle all day. But I wish he would drink more🙃 I’m sure that would help. He just always tells me no🫠 which he refuses juice and has a little milk during the day but idk how to get him drinking more water since I can’t reason with him

That's tough. It's hard encouraging them when they just outright refuse! I feel like I chase my boy around with his cup all day 😂 Sometimes it helps sitting him at the table for snacks and getting him to drink a cup of water there too, but not sure how straightforward that would be for you 🤔
