Potty training

Our LO has only been potty training for the last couple of days. I know he's completely ready and has been for some time to be honest. Only thing is, he just doesn't ever want to sit on the toilet/potty. So he's basically holding his wee for as long as he can and eventually will either have an accident or we'll put him on and he will do it. It's really tricky though as I don't want to 'force' him to keep sitting on it and make it a negative. Did anyone else's child do this?!

We had three days of accidents every single time. Then one night he just ran off when we were playing and sat on the potty 🤷🏻‍♀️ Still get the odd accident but had a good 6 weeks of him doing really well since then.

That's good to know! I'm not worried about accidents - I know there will be some and that's perfectly normal. It's more the withholding of wee (although good to know he's got that ability I guess) and the very adamant "NO" every time he's asked if he needs it/wants to sit on the potty etc (even though he very clearly does need it)

We sometimes say “I’m going for a wee before tea. If you need to go too do you want to go first or second?” We also used the Pirate Pete book to begin with.
