Has anyone here had a forcep delivery and/or episiotomy?

How are you getting on with your healing? Any incontinence?

I had this last tuesday night after a horrible couple days in labour and have had moments i couldn’t make it to the bathroom but my community midwife said not to worry about it the now as there was a whole baby putting pressure on everything and its expected, i think after a couple more weeks if it doesn’t improve then to talk about it again

I had forceps and episiotomy with my first 5 years ago. Took 5 months to heal due to infection. No issues now and just had my second baby (no forceps or episiotomy this time, just a minor second degree tear). No incontinence - do your pelvic floor exercises for real

I had an episiotomy and forceps 3 weeks ago. The first couple of weeks I felt so much pressure down below and it made it difficult to recognise when I needed the loo so that was an issue. But this past week has been so much better. I'd recommend Arnica tablets for the swelling and bruising and letting your stitches air after a shower. I blast mine with the mini fan I bought for labour 😂 and pelvic floor exercises definitely xx

@Dana it will be almost 3 weeks for me and im still incontinent, particularly in the mornings when I’m rushing to empty my bladder. I’m praying it’s not a long term thing😭

@Jess that’s amazing to hear. I did worry about the implications it may have if I wanted to have another child in the future.

@Rowan I’ve got the same issue at the moment! I don’t get the urge to empty my bladder however it has improved slightly this week. Nobody had warned me about any of this so I literally thought there was something wrong with me😂
