Newborn schedules

What do yours and babies schedule look like through the day & into the night? What are we doing during wake windows to keep baby stimulated so they’ll sleep longer? Our girl just turned 3 weeks yesterday & I feel like we have an okay schedule as far as feedings go!

During the day he mostly sleeps lol but when he is up for a while I just interact with him ( playing bicycle with his legs, talking directly to him , playing with his hands letting him grab and squeeze my fingers , constantly change his position so he doesn’t fall asleep) he’s starting to sleep a little longer in between feeds so while he does that I pump , wash bottles , restock the diaper caddy , take a shower most importantly EAT lol ect things like that and occasionally ill take a nap with him. As far as feeding I feed on demand instead of a specific schedule which helped make things alot easier ( I breastfeed and pump)

Don’t try to keep them awake longer. That was my biggest mistake… they sleep better at night when they sleep well during the day!!! Just make sure they feed A LOT and you’ll be able to go 6-8hr stretches right off the bat

At 4 weeks my little guy still doesn’t have reliable wake windows. He is sleeping and eating most of the day with about 2 wakeful periods where I can put him down. I wouldn’t try to overstimulate baby to keep them awake or anything. Just talk to them, make different noises, and show black and white images while they do floor time. Other than that, they are doing the work themselves as they figure out the world. I do lots of contact naps during the day and the little guy sleeps well on his own at night in the bassinet.
