Baby led weaning

I’ve never been one for BLW. My LG loves to eat and will eat (anything and everything) so the blender has been my best friend up to press lol. I also feel overwhelmed with what to make her or give her. Anyways today has felt like a success! Prepped- egg muffins, tomato to purée ham and DF cheese wheels and flapjacks with blueberries and strawberries. Breakfast was banana pancakes from yesterday and for tea I made a dhal and let her feed herself some (mixed with rice and it wasn’t runny) whilst I also fed her. I’m bloody knackered though 🤣 I do have a question though- when do you know if too much is too much to then give milk too? Normally with blended food she’ll eat loads so I only bother in a morning and at night with milk but if she’s having bits of this and that do you still give them milk?

24-32oz milk is recommended at this age. I always offer the same I always have to my girl, most of the time she drinks it all, occasionally not

Oh we’re quite off then. She has 18oz (9 in morning and night) :/ I just don’t want to over feed her coz as I say she eats a lot.

Milk should be a priority over food until 1. I read by 10 months they may drop to 3 feeds a day of milk with 3 meals of food a day

Not sure where the 28-32oz has come from, but with weaning it’s recommended to have around 20oz a day.

This is amazing! Well done on the prep!

Recipes please!

I rang the HV about my sons milk intake and they said not to worry. If they’re eating 3 healthy meals a day and seem to be developing and sleeping then you’re okay. Just give vitamins as well and keep an eye on their weight to make sure it’s still gaining on their centile. Today for example he hasn’t had more than 250ml (8oz). We literally can not get him to drink a drop more (he’s been offered 4 bottles throughout the day). Some days it’s twice this but today no chance! I would just ring the HV if you’ve got any questions x

@Emma that is actually incorrect, its 20oz ( NHS advice) and if drops under 500ml to add multivitamin

I’ve spoke to the HV today when they rang me about her next checks. She said 18-20oZ is what they should be having and no more coz they want them eat properly but also coz it helps with speech development (which i never knew so that’s interesting) and my LG’s making crazy progress with her speech so I’m so relieved and happy she’s said this. Recipes are dead simple. Flapjack- oats, a bit of butter, and whatever fruit/ veg (I did blueberries and strawberries) Egg muffins- egg, blueberries, carrots and cheese (again you can add anything) Pinwheels- premade low fat pastry, tomato purée, cheese and ham (again can do whatever you like)

@Zane advise is different depending on where you read, it’s a guideline 🙄 it tells you on the milk itself. And it’s actually 600-800ml if we want to be pathetic about it so you’re also incorrect as that’s 21-28oz

@Emma I am not here to argue with you. I corrected your statement as per current NHS guidelines rather what is available online/google. You know whats best for your child 🫶🏻

@Zane you “corrected” me with your opinion and another incorrect statement 😂 literally most websites and formulas recommend what I said! See above. Bye bye 👋🏻
