C section & constipation

My beautiful baby boy finally arrived on Valentine’s Day 😅🩵 so in love with him! However I had an emergency section after a long and painful labor 😭 and severely constipated now I’ve only felt the need to go toilet properly today and as I went I’ve just got haemorrhoids and no actual bowel movement but when i sit down anywhere it hurts my bum (as in the feeling that i need to go right away), but nothing. I’ve tried fybogel today and hoping it helps but I’m worried it’s not going to help and I’ll irritate my scar, has anyone else experienced something similar? Any recommendations or advice pls?

Oh god I feel you girlll I had my baby boy in November and no one warned me about the constipation I was bowling my eyes out it came to the point where the toilet became a traumatic place for me literally 😿😿

Oh and tips wise I’d say take lactulose you can mention this to the triage they should prescribe it for you x

I feel your pain I had this and it was awful. However lactulose helped me empty as I felt like I didn't push much to affect the pain of the scar x

I feel you. I eventually pooped, had to go in the bath first and was taking lactulose. Still struggle now, I would recommend getting a donut pillow, best thing ever

The pp constipation is hard (literally 😅). I got the hospital to prescribe me lactulose before I left this time as with my first I used fybogel and found it mostly just made me gassy. Caffeine can be your friend in this situation too and obviously increasing your water and fiber intake. It's then just waiting until I really really need to go before trying, a toilet stool helps to get your legs in a better position and then sitting on the toilet for a while and letting gravity help rather than pushing.

I had my baby boy on valentines and was also in natural labour for a very long time and ended up needing a c section. I’ve been constantly taking lactose which has been slowly easing it and making everything feel better and less gassy. Managed to do the most painful of number 2s yesterday. Keep taking lactose and loads of fibre and water and should help! Xxx message if you want to talk it’s been a hard few days hasn’t pain wise. Xx

@Chlo aw baby birthday twins ahaha congratulations! It really has and same for you thank you… I’m going to keep trying and hopefully it’ll ease of for us all soon 😭 xx

I took senna straight away after the c section and it did each day and it took 4 days to have a proper bowel movement Il be doing same this time round I would take half a senna if your sensitive to them each day until you go Also peppermint tea!

@Em I am having fybogel satchets 2x day and drinking peppermint teas is this fine? Or do you think use senna or lactulose? However didn’t start till day 4 as I didn’t realise I would be so constipated 😭

@Maariyah I would take something stronger as clearly the fibrogel isn’t helping. Senna will break down the stool as well to make it easier to pass

Lactulose sorted me right out after birth. X
