Weaning Coming Up

Our paediatrician said we can start weaning from 5.5 months based on his assessment of my little one. Now I am onto some online shopping and want to be organised so wondering what you’re planning to buy or recommend if second time moms. I don’t want to buy stuff that won’t work like my earlier pram purchase that ended up on FB marketplace 😃 So far I have: - a gifted babymoov food maker - jacket like bibs to wear while eating Thank you ☺️

We will be starting with steamed veg that's easy to hold, like carrots and broccoli. We're doing baby led weaning, no purées, so he'll be eating a modified version of what we're having for dinner. Breakfasts will be bananas, eggs, sugar free pancakes with berries etc Don't get sucked in to those expensive plates and cutlery!

We are doing baby led weaning so will only need. (I’m second time mum) This is what I’m getting - Few bibado bibs Bamboo suction plates (I don’t like silicone they don’t wash well and end up smelling) I already have some plastic forks for when he’s ready to try that. Not buying any kind of food machine, will just be feeding him what we have but just amending so it’s suitable for him

@Charley thank you! Yes trying to avoid my earlier mistakes 😂

I don't think there is lots you need really. Jacket bibs or ones that cover high chair tray as well are good, bibado brand. I'm going to do purees and finger foods like with my first baby. Bowls & plates that can suction to high chair tray (don't work with bibs that cover tray though). You can get smaller spoons & forks that babies can hold, so they can feed themselves as you feed them if doing purees. And a wipeable mat for under the high chair!

with my first, my mum bought us these little spoons that were good for learning to self feed, i think they were tommee tippee and only cheap! an open top cup is good for learning to drink water too, we got a doidy cup for our first xx

Definitely recommend the bibado bibs, my 2 year old still uses them daily! Also baby led weaning again so don’t need anything in particular. Would suggest downloading the Solid Starts app x

We have bells bumz shield cover alls for bibs (we use them for painting now my daughters older). We’re not bothering with plates and bowls to start we’re hustling going to put it straight on the high chair trays. With my daughter even the suction plates ended up in either the floor or her head with the food on the tray We’re going to be doing baby led weaning so wont be blending anything and they will just have what we have most of the time. We have tommee tippe spoons from my daughter and will be getting a few different cups to try with them (360, straw cup, open cup)
