Formula feeding / how to dry up breast milk

Hi! I am formula feeding my baby (don’t want advice on this or opinions, there are reasons i don’t need to disclose - fed is best!) he is 4 days old, and yesterday i woke up to completely rock solid boobs, due to my milk coming in. i’m not using it, so expressing would only make it come back… i’m really sore, to the point my lymph node in my armpit is the size of a tennis ball due to my body being unable to drain the milk . does anyone have any advice on how to get my milk to dry out and disappear that isn’t me pumping it out as this would then continue lactation and as i say, i am FF x

With my first I was told by the midwife to wear a tight fitting sports bra to keep them compressed and the milk would absorb back into my body. I’ve also heard cabbage leaves help but didn’t try this personally. I also took paracetamol and ibuprofen to help with the discomfort. After around 2 days I noticed a huge improvement and it didn’t take long until my milk was completely dried up x

@Shannon so anything “tight” over them will keep them from lactating?? i wore a black gym stretchy fitted top/bralette when heavily pregnant for comfort… would this do the job?x

@Shannon i had an emergency c-section so im on ibuprofen, paracetamol and dihydrocodine 4 times a day already and its not touching the sides😶 xx

I’ll be 7 weeks postpartum Friday formula fed since my baby was born due to being on medication not safe for him and my milk is still coming in even though I’m not expressing or pumping or anything

@Diamond oh my gosh this is what i am terrified of!!!

@Olivia i think it’s more a case of it just encourages the milk to absorb back into to body and then stops it from producing quicker. I remember it being agony for a couple of days and then really started to improve. I would assume that would be okay yeah as long as it feels as though it’s holding them in quite firmly and not allowing them to move about inside your bra x

Sudofed or any decongestant will help

Hey. So i was advised by my health nurse to just gently massage the breasts, this will cause the built-up milk to leak out and give some relief from the pressure and pain. And then to wear tight fitting bra or crop to encourage the milk to be absorbed. But because you're not breastfeeding, your milk supply should stop in a few days.

Hand express just enough to ease discomfort without emptying :) it'll take time but it'll slowly reduce!

Not sure if this is proven but I’m a breastfeeding mom and I tried the Monster Hard Lemonade and it completely dried up my milk literally overnight not sure what’s in that drink but i was producing a lot prior and it took weeks to come back 😅

Stop drinking. When I wanted to dry up last time I wore a tight sports bra, took paracetamol for the pain and dehydrated myself for 2/3 days. Stopped within the week xx

Also flu meds tank the supply. Anything with pseudoephedrine. I needed a lemsip a few weeks back and had to top up with formula as my milk disappeared
