Remove the polyp or not before ttc?

I’ve just suffered with a miscarriage and ended up having a surgical procedure. They told me afterwards I had a cervical polyp, small on the entrance of my cervix. I was wondering whether I need to remove this before I ttc again? I’m not keen on going under general anaesthetic again! But I know they can contribute towards miscarriage. The hospital didn’t seem too concerned. Thanks for your help.

In my family experience I've only ever experienced polyps in the large intestine which were always removed and tested to make sure they weren't cancerous as polyps may be benign, but then turn cancerous later, is my understanding... So I would assume the same could be said for cervical polyps? I would personally probably lean more towards having it removed and tested just because that's a huge fear of mine. But definitely talk to your healthcare provider about it first because maybe they'll just want to monitor it and if it doesn't grow or anything they won't worry about it? I'm not 100% sure what or how they would deal with it, just guessing.

I had a polyp removed in 2021. I was initially advised it was fine to stay in (it was under 1cm) but 6 weeks later I had a HyCoSy done & was told it had grown above 1cm & if I wanted to start IVF it would need to be removed (but not entirely sure if there was a particular reason why it now mattered or if it was the growth in a short space of time, or maybe the risk of IVF failing & it could’ve been down to something I could’ve removed prior to have the best chance etc!) I do believe it was a contributor to me not being able to conceive as we’d tried for 2 years and the month after the polyp was removed we conceived naturally.. However, If they’re not concerned I’d say go with their advice. I’ve recently had 2 miscarriages & now wondering if I have a polyp again potentially!
