Question for anyone that has 2 dogs

Do you walk them together or separately? One of mine is still young and a bit of a nightmare on walks, then I have a 3 year old who’s quite good on the lead. Would it be mean to walk them separately to make it easier?lol

I just don’t know how the youngest would cope in the house without her big sister for an hour

We have two dogs, we have a 2 year old GSD and a 4 month old Dalmatian, we walk them separately as that makes it easier for us and making sure that both of them have our undivided attention on walks. We tried walking them together once and it was absolute nightmare as the young one doesn’t know how to walk properly on the lead yet without pulling x

I have a 12 year old chihuahua and a 10 month old whippet 😅 with such different exercise needs, it’s far better to walk them separately so they both get the benefits they need. If it would be more successful to walk them separate, do it! :))

We used to walk them together because they were good together most of the time, the more pregnant I got I started doing it separately

I have 3 dogs. 1 gets walked on his own as he can be dog reactive and like to run. And the other 2 get walked together, as their engery levels are completely different x

We have 2 rescues. Older one was 7 when we rescued the 1 year old. Now they're 9 & 3. When we first rescued the second she had no experience on a lead, in a town, and had a very high prey drive. It was a nightmare but I persisted with them together so the older dog could help teach her. It was a hard few months but I'm sure the older dog eventually helped, and I didn't have time to walk them separately anyway. This being said, 1\ both dogs are only 10kg, if they were more, obviously things would get trickier when one is pulling! 2\ I didn't have a baby in a pram as well back then. I can imagine that would have been near impossible! If time allows(!), could you/your partner if you have one do a mix? 1 seperate walk and then a shorter walk together later in the day when they're more tired? Just a thought. Best of luck. Children that grow up with pets are so lucky- I'm sure your efforts will be invaluable long term 😃 🐕 🐕

I have 4 dogs - walk all 4 together for their first walk of the day and then 2 and 2 or 1 and 3, depending on how they are. When the two youngest were pups I did do more separate walks as they focus a lot better and learnt to do well on the lead etc.

We have 3 dogs. 2 older ones (11&12) who get walked together and then a younger (3) giant breed who can be reactive that gets walked separately. I walk them with babe in a carrier as it's much easier than trying to navigate a pram too x

I walk mine together but only with my husband and the younger one doesn’t listen to commands like my older one. When the husband isn’t home I walk them separately or take them to a secure field by car and let them run this is the only way we can handle them as we have big dogs too 😅

I had two labs and I used a Y lead with their leash, so I didn’t have to have two separate leashes and could use one hand. I also used harnesses, not collars to walk them.

I walk mine together as they're pretty well behaved and have the same exercise needs. But if your dogs have different exercise needs or one has behavioural issues/needs training, separate walks are beneficial if you have the time

Depends on the walk I had a small breed and a large breed normal day walks we did together if we went out we would take large one when we were going on a long hike ie countryside walk and small one some where more relaxing ie picnic in park x

We have a 4yo cocker and a 6m dachshund. If my partner is working from home I take them individually because the puppy is desperate to be off lead and chase her sister around, but she can’t be trusted yet so she yaps non-stop. It’s nice for the older dog to get a proper run around too. Walking them together is a challenge for sure .
