Arm flapping?!

Is anyone else concerned about excessive arm flapping and ankle/toes twirling in their little ones? šŸ˜¬ I noticed it from a couple of months old as he would never be interested in rolling or reaching for things but instead would just lay there and flap and twirl with his legs out rigid straight... as heā€™s grown its never stopped, if heā€™s excited, if heā€™s upset, he pretty much does it all day when thereā€™s not a toy in his hand and even then he will flap and chuck the toy away after a few mins šŸ˜… I know this can be an early sign of autism so mentioned to my HV but she just dismissed it and said that SCHOOL will pick it up if it is, which is years away?! He hasnā€™t necessarily hit all his milestones on time, still isnā€™t crawling at 11 months, but otherwise is fairly social, smiley, responds to name etc. Just donā€™t know if Iā€™m over worrying and believing everything I see (guilty of watching tiktoks šŸ˜) but I do always think that mum instinct is right and just donā€™t think itā€™s normal, but everyone thinks Iā€™m crazy when I mention it šŸ˜©

Autism I would be persistent and keep pushing my sister did with my niece and nephew my niece was 9 months old when she finally got a diagnosis she is now 4 nearly 5 non verbal only just going to nursery it is hereditary also so possible come from mum or dad use could be showing signs yourselves and havenā€™t realized maybe try get assessed for your self as well as your child phone doctors and ask for an appointment with a psychological practitioner I work with mental health autism Aspergerā€™s and adhd the hv and doctors will try and brush it off because they donā€™t like to diagnose before 5yrs old but it can be done you just have to push for it also there are different ends to the spectrum hope this helps and hope you get answers

Thank you very much this is really helpful ā˜ŗļø x

Very welcome also the schools donā€™t always notice specially with girls & women are harder to diagnose as we are good at masking things I hope you get sorted love if you need anymore guidance and I can help in anyway just give me a direct message

Coming from someone who really struggled/still sometimes does with anxiety about my baby, please donā€™t stress yourself over it. Right now heā€™s just a baby and they go through all kinds of phases, try your best to push it to the back of your mind and just enjoy the stage of motherhood youā€™re at. I also used to think maybe itā€™s just mums instinct but I also fell into diagnosing my baby cos of TikTok!! I had to delete the app lol. If thereā€™s any concerns when heā€™s older, cross that bridge when you get to it as even if there was, thereā€™s nothing you can do about it currently. Plus you donā€™t need to add to the anxiety by thinking that you or your partner are also autistic, Iā€™m not sure if that would help anything. Iā€™m sorry if this doesnā€™t seem helpful but my anxiety really ruined so many months of motherhood for me and it still upsets me to think about!! Your boy is happy and healthy and you deserve to enjoy this time without being full of anxiety! šŸ’•
