I'd like to try my best to breastfeed. But not gonna be hard on myself if I cant

I'm really looking forward to breastfeeding, it's the one thing I've always wanted to do once I finally was able to have a baby đŸ„°

@Bhakti 100% don’t be hard on yourself, there’s great groups called Breastfeeding and Lactation support UK which will answer any question you might have regardless if you might think it’s silly.

@Sam that’s so lovely đŸ„°

I didn’t get a good milk supply with my 1st had to stop after 2 weeks and then my 2nd I didn’t get a single drop so I doubt I’ll get owt again this time round x

I'm going to attempt breastfeeding again. I managed to breastfeed my first until he was about 8/9 months, but it was tough going he'd feed every hour in the day and every 2 hours during the night. I'm having an elective C-section this time round too, so I'm just going to see how it all goes

I'm going to try again. With my son I made it to 4 months combi feeding before I just went full time formula. I just wasn't making enough milk so matter how much I tried. I'll be doing the same this time if I can.

@Danielle how do you know you weren’t making enough milk?

@Kirsty how did you know you weren’t making enough milk? Babies stimulate milk on the breast and pumping is not an indication of supply.

I fed for 14 months with my first, only stopped because she had an operation and that seemed to put her on strike for BF, and will be trying again with this second baby, my goal will be 18 months and my cut off will be around 2 years. I don't really want to do more than that but we'll have to see how it all goes first!

@Robyn I bf’d until 16 months but was ready to stop and it happened naturally â˜șïžđŸ˜Š

I breastfed my first for 18months and intend on doing the same again xx

@Greta I have a hormone imbalance due to having PCOS, no matter how much I tried milk would not come , even health visitors tried to help me but nothing ,and I didnt get a single drop with my 18 month old

@Kirsty oh that’s tough but at least you tried đŸ€—

Anyone wanting to try to breastfeed đŸ€± (again if you don’t there is no judgement we all have our reasons) most important is that bubba is fed please join the Breastfeed & Lactation Support group on Facebook - you will have any question you have answered and it will truly put your mind at ease. I messaged them quite a few times with my first and who knows might have even given up without key information â„čâ˜șđŸ„Č

I was really nervous to try with my first as read so many horror stories and didn’t want to ‘fail’. In reality he wouldn’t take a bottle and I couldn’t pump a drop, so was def mentally and physically exhausting but we did it for a year until i’d finally had enough. Will probably try again with this one but try and introduce a bottle earlier.

I’ll be exclusively breastfeeding baby 😊

My milk failed after my emergency c section last time, I am having an elective this time I am willing to give it a go but I will not put my mental wellbeing at risk. I would prefer to enjoy the newborn stage and not loose months to trying to encourage something that my body doesn’t want to do đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž my health visitor in the area this time is also a breastfeeding consultant so hopefully there will be extra support this time round 🙂

Breastfed first for just under 2 years. Hope to do it again. The main problem I had was trying to pump and breastfeed. As soon as I gave up on pumping the pain went away and it was so much easier. (Downside was my baby would not take a bottle at all for 9 months so no time away even for short stretches was possible). Biggest decision this time is whether to try and get them to take a bottle early on so I don’t get complete refusal like last time.

I’m hoping to breastfeed again. Breastfed my first until he was 2 years 8 months, stopped as my milk changed in this pregnancy and he went off it but I was ready to stop. I was fortunate to receive a lot of breastfeeding support in NICU as we had latch issues, used nipple shields until he was 4 months. It was tough going at the beginning but it gets easier. I would also recommend the ‘breastfeeding and lactation support’ group as well as the ‘breastfeeding older babies and beyond’ group and the ‘BFYM - breastfeeding support’ all on fb.

Yes but also looking to combi feed - any suggestions on how to be successful with this my first was exclusively breast fed for a year and didn’t take bottles
