Talking

Hi!! Question for all the moms out there..my son is 20 months and isn’t really talking yet. He makes some sounds but not a lot. He points and grunts and groans but not much else. I read to him and name everything he points to..screen time is limited and even when it is on I’m still naming everything he points to or shows interest in. How do I get him to start saying words? What else can I do short of getting a speech therapist involved?

my 3 yr old talked good at this age, but we did lots of learning time. they have lots of flash card options at dollar tree. for talking i got word ones with pictures and we would designate time throughout the day and sit down and i would go through them telling her what everything was from the time she was 1. by the time she was 16 months she could tell me what they were. we also had books with pictures of things meant to teach them words as well! so i would point at that also and tell her what everything was and she also got to where i pointed and she told me. i know kids the same age as my daughter though who couldn’t talk until much later and they’re 3 now and talk great!
