Help!!!

My 16 month old son is into everything and anything throwing tantrums when told no, or he wants it now and not in a min or so when I get a second. He can say 7-10 words but he isn’t talking and points to everything and makes a eh eh noise all the time even when I say what it is and try getting him to say it? Anyone else in this situation????

My son is almost 3. Maybe it’s a boy thing? God knows. If he asks me for something and I say to him let me just do this and then I’ll get you some. He screams and then tries to do it himself, so I end up stopping what I’m doing to tend to whatever he wants for those 2 seconds and then try get back to what I’m doing before he throws a tantrum AGAIIN!

My 15 month old girl is similar, into everything we don't have locked down and quick to get upset if she can't have it now / can't have what she wants. Right now it's mostly being picked up which I can't always do. If I literally can't at that second, I'll tell her so and let her flop on her butt and scream while I continue what I'm doing. I'll keep talking to her and tell her it's ok to be upset and I understand waiting for lunch can be hard when she's hungry, etc. if I have to, I just drop her in the playpen until I finish. When told no she sometimes listens but mostly smiles and looks at me. I can tell she's testing limits, so I am trying to enforce a 3 minute time out rule if she disobeys when told no. I sit her down and explain why she needs to listen. I'm not sure if it's working or not, it's still quite new, but she does pause when I use my firm tone and sometimes listens, so I'm taking it as a win. 😅

I also keep a couple of key distractor toys on hand that I only bring out when I need her fully occupied for 20 minutes.

Thank you guys it’s so hard at times xx
